What Gives?

racecube1If one was to ask your ethnicity, you’ll probaly say polish, german, jewish, jamaican, irish, russian, italian, scottish, greek, african and so on. Each ethnicity having its own place of origin and natural connect. As for myself, I’m classified as black. A color that designates me as such but no sense of origin. Over the years we have deliberated over whether to be african american, afro american, negro, colored and even ‘nigga” for some. The uncertainty of what to call ourselves is indicative to the uncertainty of who we actually are. Like walking in darkness without a light to shine our path, collectively as a race we have become the lost tribe with no sense of direction. Easily to manipulate and control others feed on our communities like parasites. This has left us watching everyone else pass us by while they live their own american dream. Last on the totem pole, we have reduced ourselves to something less than who we truly are. Beautiful people with awesome accomplishments. Now don’t get me wrong…I love me and mine but damn what gives?  Can You Dig It!!!

One Response to “What Gives?”

  1. Maybe part of the reason that black americans don’t identify themselves differently is that a large percentage are decendants of slaves and have been in this country a very long time. Is there one black american culture? Other groups, whites, hispanics, asians, have immigrated over time from different countries and identify more with the traditions of those countries. Of course there are other aferican immigrants from Somalia and other countries who have nothing in common with african americans of today. I don’t think of myself as a jewish american or a white american or even of eastern european descent. Just american. We all can share and celebrate our culteral differences and hopefully get to know each other as individuals. Make love not war.
